Celebrating Ten Years Since London 2012

On Tuesday 6th September, Karen Tonge OBE, Chair of British Para Table Tennis and member of the Swaythling Club International, alongside Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee, were featured on Channel 4, a British television network, to celebrated 10 years since the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Karen is also a member of ITTF Para Committee and deputy Chair ETTU Para Committee.

Alan Hydes, Centre Court

Alan Hydes, Swaythling Club International member, with his son Paul were present at Wimbledon on Monday 4th July to watch Nick Kyrgios beat Stefanos Tsitsipas. A rather pleasant suburb in south east London, Paul is the Sidcup tennis champion.

Karen Tonge awarded OBE in Queen’s Platinum Birthday Honours List

Karen Tonge, Chair of British Para Table Tennis and a member of the Swaythling Club International, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Paralympic table tennis. by Francesca Bullock, British Para Table Tennis Team Media Officer A most special award, it is 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, it is her Platinum Jubilee. Hailing from Runcorn, near Liverpool, she received an MBE in the New Year’s Honours 2009 for promoting table tennis at grassroots level, volunteering in sport and promoting healthy lifestyles. She joined the British Table Tennis Association for People with Disabilities (BTTAD) when it became a Limited Company and was elected Chair in March 2015.
