Alan Hydes delighted to receive a special guest, Mary Wright Welcome visitor to the home of Alan Hydes in Littlehampton on the south coast of England were Brian and Mary Wright. Like Alan Hydes, both England internationals. During an illustrious career, Mary Wright won three bronze medals at World Championships, three gold, two silver and five bronze at European Championships. World Veteran Championships, Guest Players
The Organising Committee of the 2023 World Veteran Championships, to be staged in Muscat, Oman from Sunday 15th to Saturday 21st January, kindly invites six members of the Swaythling Club International to compete in the week-long tournament Kindly note the Oman Organising Committee will be responsible for accommodation, meals and local transport costs. Applicants are reminded that they are responsible for entering the tournament via the on-line registration system and paying the appropriate fees. Additionally, they are responsible for all associated travel costs. World Veteran Championships 2023: Age Categories Confirmed
The World Veteran Championships, although to be staged in January 2023 will adopt the age categories for 2022. Ever since first staged in 1982 in Gothenburg, the tournament has been staged on a biennial basis. Unfortunately, owing to the pandemic, the event planned for 2000 in Bordeaux was cancelled but as the next edition is scheduled for 2024, the two year cycle will be maintained. Therefore, all individuals who are older than 40 years of age or who will be 40 years of age during the year 2022 are eligible to participate. bbbbb Age Categories: • 40-44 years (born between 1982 and 1978) • 45-49 years (born between 1977 and 1973) • 50-54 years (born between 1972 and 1968) • 55-59 years (born between 1967 and 1963) • 60-64 years

Less than nine months to go before proceedings are declared officially open at the 2023 World Veteran Championships, play commencing in Muscat, Oman on Sunday 15th January, registration is now open. Furthermore, there is no time to waste; for the best value, the closing date is just two months hence. Swaythling Club Magazine
The SCI Magazine will cease publication. In August 2021 a request was made by the International Table Tennis Federation for a magazine to be published similar to the Swaythling publication, four times per year. Following discussions with all concerned it was agreed that the Swaythling publication would cease but would be represented with pages in the proposed ITTF magazine. The ITTF magazine will not be printed, it will be digital. Therefore, the Swaythling Club Executive Committee is exploring the possibilities of still printing the relevant pages and including in a own twice-yearly Newsletter. The Executive Committee will be meeting in Rimini during the European Veteran Championships in June to discuss the best way forward for members.
