Petra Sörling confronts Liang Mui Heng in women’s singles 50-54 years round two

Attention focused on playing, as opposed to official duties, for Petra Sörling, President of the International Table Tennis Federation and a member of the Swaythling Club International, it was a second round departure in women’s singles 50-54 years at the Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships in Oman.

On Thursday 19th January, having received an opening round bye, she was beaten by Singaporean pen-holder Liang Mui Heng (11-5, 11-6, 11-6).

Earlier, in the group stage Petra had remained unbeaten, accounting for Mongolia’s Badamtsoo Otgonbaatar (11-6, 12-10, 11-8) and Korea Republic’s Oh Juyeon (11-1, 11-8, 11-2).
