Egypt’s Dina Meshref, a member of the Swaythling Club International, won the women’s singles title at the ITTF- Africa Cup in Kigali, Rwanda on Tuesday 14th May.
The win means that in the history of the competition, the women’s event being first staged in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1997, she is head and shoulders above all others.
Commencing in 2011 in Rabat, Morocco, she has now secured the title on an unprecedented nine occasions!
No other players have won more than twice, her nearest rivals are Congo Brazzaville’s Han Xing in 2009 and 2013, more recently Egyptian colleague, Hana Goda in 2022 and 2023.
Furthermore, it is the 10th time a member of Dina’s family has won the title, in 1999, Shahira El-Alfy, her aunt, struck gold
