Niels Ramberg faces Karl-Josef Assenmacher in men’s singles 74-79 years

Gold medallist in Alicante in 2016 when he won men’s singles 70-74 years; at the Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships, once again Denmark’s Niels Ramberg is a man in form.

On duty in men’s singles 75-79 years, on Thursday 19th January, he reached the quarter-finals.

In the group stage he accounted for India’s Arun Barhat (11-7, 11-0, 11-5), before overcoming Sweden’s Ake Karlsson (11-3, 11-5, 11-1) to secure top spot.

Through to the main draw, he received a walk-over against Frenchman, Adolphe Zmirou, prior to ending the hopes of Germany’s Karl-Josef Assenmacher (12-10, 11-6, 11-6).
