President of the Norway Table Tennis Bund and member of the Swaythling Club International, competing in men’s singles 45-49 years at the Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships in Oman, it was a third round exit for Christian Ibenfeldt.
Impressively, he remained unbeaten in his group stage matches, accounting for Iran’s Abdolmahdi Tabatabaei (11-6, 11-9, 14-12), Frenchman Didier Manher (11-5, 11-3, 11-9) and India’s Pandurangan Muthukrisan (11-4, 11-3, 11-8).
Safely through to the main draw, he received an opening round bye, prior to overcoming Palestine’s Mazen Mazen (11-9, 11-9, 11-5).
In the third round he was beaten by Saudi Arabia’s Al-Harbi Bunaydir (11-5, 11-5, 11-6).
