Quarter-Final signals end of road for Carsten Egeholt

Carsten Egeholt faced Laurent Auguet in the third round of men’s singles 55-59 years


Smooth progression to the quarter-final stage of the men’s singles 55-59 years event at the Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships in Oman but that was the end of the journey for Denmark’s Carsten Egeholt, a member of the Swaythling Club International.

On Thursday 19th January, he was beaten in a close full distance five games encounter by China’s Pan Yan (9-11, 13-11, 11-6, 4-11, 11-6).

He qualified for the main draw courtesy of success in opposition to Austria’s Liu Shengguo (11-7, 11-2, 11-6).

An imposing start to his campaign, the good form continued; he accounted for Germany’s Joachim Meyer Zu Wendischoff (11-4, 12-10, 11-4), Frenchman Laurent Auguet and Finland’s Mika Pyykkö (11-2, 11-5, 11-5) to book his place in the last eight.
