Member of History Making Team, Connie Sweeris Still a Formidable Competitor

Connie Sweeris, progress in women’s singles 75-79 years ended in round one.


A member of the United States team that visited China in 1971 following the World Championships in Nagoya, on Thursday 19th January, an opening round farewell was the lot of Connie Sweeris at the Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships in Oman.

She was beaten by Japan’s Kabru Kojima (11-5, 11-7, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8).

Earlier in the group stage she had remained unbeaten, having accounted for Terumi Kamata, like Kabru Kojima from Japan (5-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-3), Brazil’s Natalia Lucena (11-2, 11-5, 11-4) and Germany’s Karin Rauscher (11-2, 11-1, 11-4).

Connie Sweeris is a member of the Swaythling Club International.
