Gizella Zacher on Course

Gizella Zacher faced England’s Pramila Muthiah in the first round of the women’s singles 75-79 years event.

Hungary’s Gizella Zacher, a member of the Swaythling Club International, remained on course at Muscat 2023 World Veteran Championships to repeat her success achieved in 2018 in Las Vegas.

In the American city she won the women’s singles 70-74 years title; in Oman on Thursday 19th January, she progressed to the semi-final stage of women’s singles 75-79 years. On Saturday 21st January, the concluding day of action, she faces compatriot Imola Petohazi.

Replicating the form of now approaching five years earlier, in the group phase she overcame Japan’s Chiyoko Kitawake (11-5, 11-4, 11-3) and Mongolia’s Altantsesteg Sharkhuu (11-5, 11-3, 11-1), before in the main draw ousting England’s Pramila Muthiah (11-6, 11-3, 11-6) and Japan’s Kaoru Kojima (11-4, 11-8, 11-6).
