Paul Gimbel (1941-2022)

Paul Gimbel always positive. A member of the Swaythling Club International, Paul Gimbel passed away on Sunday 18th September; he was 81 years old. At the Stockholm 1957 World Championships, he reached last 32 of the men’s singles event; the year in which at the Netherlands national championships he won both junior and senior titles. Additional to table tennis he was one of the first rock and roll artists in the Netherlands; his recording “Clap your hands and twist” can be found on YouTube. A somewhat rebellious character in the 1960s, later he turned his attention to the financial world. Paul Gimbel, rock and roll star (Photo: Bert van der Helm)
