Karen Tonge awarded OBE in Queen’s Platinum Birthday Honours List
Karen Tonge, Chair of British Para Table Tennis and a member of the Swaythling Club International, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Paralympic table tennis. by Francesca Bullock, British Para Table Tennis Team Media Officer A most special award, it is 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, it is her Platinum Jubilee. Hailing from Runcorn, near Liverpool, she received an MBE in the New Year’s Honours 2009 for promoting table tennis at grassroots level, volunteering in sport and promoting healthy lifestyles. She joined the British Table Tennis Association for People with Disabilities (BTTAD) when it became a Limited Company and was elected Chair in March 2015. The organisation was rebranded British Para Table
