Golden days for Giada Rossi (Photo: FITET)

Staged from Wednesday 15th to Saturday 18th March, the host nation’s Giada Rossi emerged the most successful player on duty at the ITTF Lignano Masters Para Open 2023; she emerged the only player to secure the maximum three titles.

Impressively, she won women’s singles class 2, before partnering colleagues to gold. She secured the women’s doubles class 5 title alongside Michela Brunelli, mixed doubles class 4 in partnership with Frederico Crossara.

Overall, a total of 39 events comprised the schedule, the same as at the Andalucia 2022 World Para Championships but more than at any other comparable international tournament, the number one higher than the previous on record last year in Slovenia.

Reason for the difference was that in Slovenia, women’s singles class 1-2 combined two categories, in Lignano they were separated, Finland’s Aino Tapola won the women’s singles class 1 title.
