Staging Swaythling Club Executive Committee Meetings on-line has become the norm; however, on Saturday 26th April it was back to former times; members met in person.
The major focus was preparation for the forthcoming European Veteran Championships in Novi Sad, the upcoming Annual General Meeting and elections for the Executive Committee.
Additionally, a convivial informal gathering took place with members of the Czech Swaythling Club section.
Staged in a traditional Czech restaurant, accompanied by delicious local dishes and excellent Pilsner Urquell beer, the group reminisced about their past ventures at World and European Championships. They shared memories from their youth and updated each other on how they now enjoy well-earned retirement.
Zbyňek Špaček, Chair of the Czech SCI section, organised an engaging visit of historic Prague for members; from Prague Castle, a walk progressed across Kampa Island and the Charles Bridge, to the Old Town Square and the world-famous Astronomical Clock. Most certainly, the group enjoyed a cultural experience in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
Claude Bergeret, President of the Swaythling Club International described the meeting with Czech veterans as very warm and genuine. She expressed her hope that similar gatherings between the Swaythling Club International leadership and national sections throughout the world will take place in the future.
