Harvey Webb at the Annual General Meeting of the Swaythling Club held in 2019 in Budapest

It is with great sadness that the death of Harvey Webb, Secretary of the Swaythling Club International, is announced

He passed away on Thursday 7th November at St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards-on-Sea, England, suffering from mesothelioma, a rare condition contracted as a result to having been exposed to asbestos at some stage during his life.

Harvey was first a player, then administrator and organiser.

Always prepared to give his time without seeking reward, Harvey held many positions at club, league and county level.

Later he became the National Events Manager for what is now Table Tennis England, most recently becoming Secretary of the Swaythling Club International, having previously held the role of Deputy President.

Notably for his services to Table Tennis England, in 1981 Harvey received the Ivor Montagu Award, in 1986 he was elected Vice-President. Later, in 2004 he secured the AK Vint Staff Award, before in 2011 being named Honorary Life Member.

A man with a true passion for table tennis, he is sadly missed.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Diane, and family members at a time when words are insufficient to describe our feelings.

Harvey Webb, rest in peace.
