Alas for the third member of the group, Thierry Miller, also from Switzerland, it was the end of the road, competing in the Over 55 Years category, it was defeat in both the men’s singles and with Denmark’s Henrik Vendelbo in the men’s doubles. In the former Sweden’s Lars Mattsson ended progress (11-7, 11-8, 11-6), in the latter the combination of Germany’s Piotr Frackowak and Finland’s Jorma Lahtinen who halted aspirations (11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6). At the quarter-final stage of the women’s singles she accounted for Francoise Guillotea of France (11-4, 11-6, 11-9) and now meets Dina Minaka, an independent athlete, in the penultimate round. Meanwhile, the women’s doubles success in opposition to the combination of Jana Gillanyrova and the Czech Republic’s Jitka Marsikova (9-11, 12-10, 11-2, 11-3) ensured a semi-final berth. Ekaterina Krasnova an independent athlete and Italy’s Sonia Milic form the penultimate round pairing. On duty in the 60 years age group; safely through the last eight, he overcame Sweden’s Jan Ekstrom (11-6, 11-8, 11-9); fellow Hungarian, Mikols Nagy now awaits.
